Project Manager – Residential Solar Lease

Location: Hybrid – Based in North Carolina

About Us: We’re a fast-growing solar company with a mission to make clean energy accessible and affordable for everyone. Our residential rooftop lease product makes it easier than ever for homeowners to go solar with battery backup, with no upfront cost. We’re a lean, motivated team, and we’re looking for a motivated, personable, and detail-oriented Project Manager to help us bring this product to life.

Position Overview: You’ll play a foundational role in setting up our internal systems, processes, and workflows. You’ll oversee projects from customer sign-up through installation and operation, working closely with our EPC partners, internal team, and homeowners to ensure a smooth and timely experience. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a startup environment and wants to have a hand in building something impactful from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Execution & Oversight

  • Manage end-to-end project delivery, including permitting, installation, interconnection, and close-out.

  • Coordinate closely with EPC partners to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.

  • Review EPC-submitted documentation including design documents, interconnection requests, permits, rebate applications, and installation photos.

  • Approve milestone payments to EPCs based on completed deliverables.

Operations & Systems Setup

  • Establish and refine project tracking tools to monitor progress across all customers (e.g., permitting, construction, PTO).

  • Track customer-related expenditures to support financial and performance reporting.

  • Work with leadership to continuously improve internal processes and standard operating procedures.

Customer & Partner Communication

  • Serve as a main point of contact for EPCs and ensure high-quality communication and collaboration.

  • Support EPCs in customer-facing communication as needed to maintain a positive homeowner experience.

  • Maintain timely, professional, and clear communication across all stakeholders.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all projects meet applicable utility requirements, rebate program rules, and permitting standards.

  • Keep projects in line with relevant codes, safety regulations, and interconnection requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 2–5 years of experience in project management, preferably in residential solar, construction, or a related field.

  • General knowledge of solar energy systems, especially PV and battery storage.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to proactively manage multiple moving parts and timelines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Self-starter with a collaborative mindset.

  • Experience with rebate programs and utility interconnection is a plus.

  • Familiarity with project management or CRM.

Preferred Certifications (not required):

  • NABCEP certification

  • PMP or other project management certifications
